Our very “own” conference doodler/cartoonist

We are happy to announce that we now have a official conference doodler/cartoonist. Some of you might know Patrick Hochstenbach already from the previous edition of emtacl (2012) and his wonderful capturing of the conference with his doodles?

Patrick is working as a digital architect at Ghent University library. My work fields are digital preservation, institutional repositories, data extraction and conversion, digital humanities, search engines and application development. I’m one of the lead developers in the LibreCat-Catmandu project which provides free ETL services for libraries. In the past I’ve developed the SFX linking server with Herbert Van de Sompel and worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the US and Lund University in Sweden. During the evening I forget everything about libraries and start drawing cartoons and comics.

The “final” edition of the emtacl programme is soon ready….

The “final” editions of the emtacl programme is ready soon. As you all might have seen the programme have been updated quite often lately. The sesssions have gotten topic names, some titles for the keynote talks have been added, photo/photos of the speakers have been added along with “short” bios and links to abstracts.

Clicking on the names in the programme is leading you to the persons photo, bio and abstract.

Draft programme for emtacl15

A first glimpse on the emtacl15 programme.

The speakers had a deadline set to the 9th of January to confirm their participation at the conference, we still miss 1 or 2 speakers confirming their participation but we dare to put their name on display before they have confirmed 100 %. The programme so far looks interesting, but as with everyone having experiences with organizing conferences their is always last minute changes. You might notice that the headings for the different sessions is lacking, they will soon be supplied with topic headings.

When we get all speakers bios, photos and abstracts in PDFs we will eventually also link to those from the programme.

Hope you all feel tempted by the programme and decide to participate at the conference. The conference registration is hereby declared open.
